Book recommendations

These are books I find particularly interesting and useful in promoting excellence in leadership and talent-building.

  • Good Power

Could not resist this one, I devoured it, since I supported Ginni, former Chairman and CEO, while at IBM. I delighted in the memories of IBM culture, people, and technology over the eras, and in learning things about Ginni that I didn't know. And then I hit the chapter on SkillsFirst. Genius!!! (I would expect no less from Ginni, but this gave me goosebumps). I've already given the book to several friends. Ginni, are you bringing SkillsFirst to Florida? I'd love to help.

  • The Power of Ethics

Just getting started on this one, I'm already gripped by the compelling dilemmas the author, a Stanford professor, uses to illustrate her points. In one example, she states that a company hadn't done anything illegal, "but illegal is not the appropriate ethical standard." I'm all in. Wonder what she would have to say in the waning days of May 2023.

  • Saving Ryan

This book was recommended to me by a biotech CEO to get an inside look at the FDA drug approval process that a biotech firm goes through while balancing the needs of patients with a rare disease.
